Galen and Dagan's Wedding Celebration

Ryan and I had a fun (quick) trip home to celebrate Galen and Dagan getting married. The beautiful couple got married in the beginning of August in the San Juan Islands. It was a lovely celebration within the redwoods. One of the most delicious BBQ's I've ever had and lifelong friends (and their children) were in abundence. Such a special evening with the girls, their husbands and children. Ones that I've known since kindergarten. Such a beautiful celebration! Congratulations Galen and Dagan, we love you and are so happy for you!!!

Birthday on the Roof

Ryan and I threw our first party on our roof deck this past weekend. We decided to have a some people to help celebrate my birthday, along with saying goodbye to the summer. It was our first chilly evening but still many friends came to celebrate. The view was beautiful and everyone seemed to have fun, maybe a few had a little too much fun :). All in all we had about 20 friends here, which was way more people then we thought we knew in this city.

School Has Begun!

Well, I've spent the last week meeting, greeting, familiarizing with 18 new kindergartners. I'm super excited about my class this year, so many sweet children with amazing parents too. I'm teaching with a new girl this year who I'm sure is going to be a great teaching partner. Here are few pictures of my classroom. I'll post more picts as the year goes on. (no one uses Mrs. in my school, FYI)

10 Year Anniversary

As many of you know we live down in the Financial District of Manhattan. We are only a mere 5 blocks away from the World Trade Center Site. So through this past year and half we have watched the buildings grow daily. Even though we live so close there wasn't any way we could get even close to the site, so Ryan and I walked down there today and took a few pictures.

(In front of Grace Cathedral. All ribbons had special messages and names on them. The site where pictures were posted to find loved ones and the church where firemen slept when they were tired. Very touching.)

There is a month long waiting list to get into the main area which we'll get to see in October. It's an indescribable feeling living down here during this time, but I do know that I have NO idea what it was like in this area 10 years ago today. Add Image

Surprise!!!

Last weekend Ryan and I flew home to help surprise his mom for her 60th birthday. Along with Pete and Jaclyn we were able to pull off a seamless surprise. The six of us had a nice day with having a yummy lunch, chatting and taking a walk to get fro yo. Later we told her that we were going to dinner but little did she know that both her sisters and family, my parents and Jaclyn's parents, all wanted to celebrate her too. We had a fun dinner at Luca in downtown Sacramento just spending time with Pat and our families. It was a quick Friday to Sunday trip but well worth it. Happy Birthday Pat! We love you!
