Kweder's in NYC

Well, my mom and dad just left today after 4 short days of visiting us. Unfortunately I had to work all the days that they were here but it seemed like they enjoyed the sunny days and took advantage of the sights to see. We had nightly drinks on our roof deck, a few tasty dinners in our neighborhood and a festive dinner in Little Italy last night. The San Gennaro Festival was happening which is a very celebratory occasion in Italy. Booths of Italian food, carnival rides and little chgtchkeys lined the streets. We ate at our favorite DaNico's where we ate like King and Queen's. Their visit was too short but like my dad said, "Christmas is exactly 3 months away", can't wait to see you then!

My Birthday

Erin, Ryan and I went to a very fun restaurant on the lower east side called "Stanton Social". We had amazing food, tasty drinks and fun conversation. We ended the night with going to a VERY delicious cupcake place called "Sugar Sweet Sunshine", truly one of the best cupcakes I've ever tasted (even better than "Magnolia's", those who know Magnolia Cupcakes know that these cupcakes must be that good). Thank you guys for making my night such a special one!!!!

Mystic, Connecticut

Friday after work I met Ryan in Mystic, Connecticut. Such a cute town that reminded both of us of Sausalito. The town was right on the water, had a draw bridge, cute shops and restaurants on this one street. We had dinner at a yummy place Friday night. Saturday we enjoyed the food festival that was going on. We ate Mystic Pizza which is famous from the older movie "Mystic Pizza" with Julia Roberts and were able to try different food from some of the other tasty restaurants. We drove around a few of the small towns surrounding Mystic and loved all of the beautiful homes with big sprawling lawns that lead into the waters edge. We were back in the city by 7:00 pm on Saturday where we relaxed for the next 36 hours. It was a wonderful pre-birthday weekend.

Labor Day Weekend

Ryan and I had another very fun weekend. It started off with going to the Edell's house for a traditional Labor Day BBQ. We had fun playing with Morgan and Blake, catching up with Sandy, Linda, Cate and Gregg and had a delicious dinner in perfect non humid weather. Thanks guys for having us over!!!

On Sunday we decided to rent bikes and ride around the city. We rode from Battery Park up the east side, shot over at 96th street, had a picnic and relaxed in Central Park, rode all around the park, then went over to the west side and rode along the Hudson River all the way back down to the bottom of the island. In total we think we rode almost 20 miles, not bad, but our bottoms were very soar by the end :). We both fell in love with the west side and all of their parks. Manhattan parks are amazing, we are constantly impressed with every park we visit.

Monday we went to the US Open. We got ready early and went to get a drink in Bryant Park (our favorite park in the city) and then headed off to Queens. We ended up getting great tickets (not the best seats but perfect for us) where we could walk around the grounds, eat some yummy food and then watched Federer play at the Arthur Ash Stadium. We felt very lucky that we were able to watch such great matches. We're already excited about going next year.
